Assess Your Risk Comfort Level
The key to understanding risk is to understand objectives. Depending on the desired outcome, the level of risk undertaken will vary – and vice versa.
Investors who are willing to accept smaller returns benefit from the much greater safety of low risk investments. Medium risk investments demonstrate some volatility but can provide moderate growth over a longer period of time. At the far end of the spectrum, high risk investments will fluctuate in value significantly in the short term in exchange for potentially higher long term returns.
So while there are cases for low risk and for high risk, at McLean Budden there is never cause for unnecessary risk. As compared to the Canadian Mutual Fund marketplace, our funds are, on the whole, considered low to medium risk.
