McLean Budden Global Equity Team
Investment Philosophy
McLean Budden believes that International equity portfolios should be constructed with the emphasis on research-driven stock selection. Research teams should have global sector responsibilities to fully understand the impacts of the competitive market within each sector. Portfolios should have a focused approach and restrict the number of securities in the portfolio from eighty to one hundred securities. Finally, risk control overlays should be in place to limit stock, sector and regional level risk.
Investment Style
The fund uses a Core approach with primarily large capitalization stocks.
Portfolio Composition
Our commitment to specific securities and industry sectors depends on the earnings potential of the particular companies we follow. We rank the risk-adjusted returns according to each companys return potential based on the likelihood of the security attaining the projected return. Company management and balanced sheet strength are the key factors that determine each stocks risk level of meeting the sales target price.
The Team identifies leading companies with the potential for long-term capital appreciation. Specific issues will normally comprise 1 to 4% of the aggregate portfolio value. While the process focuses on selecting specific companies, stock selection is also influences by the desired weightings in the broad market sectors.
